Visit Dali

If you’ve been looking for the perfect place to unwind in your trip to the Republic of China, you may have just found it. Dali, in the Yunnan province, has the charm and heart of a small Chinese village, with the modern luxuries of any global city. Eat and drink to your heart’s content, bask in the beautiful scenery, and enjoy the quiet of being in a smaller village without all those pesky tourists!

Must-Do Activities

  • Hike the Cangshan Mountain range
  • Hire a boat or Cycle along The Erhai Lake
  • Shopping along the old parts of Dali

The mountain ranges surrounding the area provide an excellent opportunity for hiking. Pick up some snack lunch items for your trip, charge your camera battery, and set out for a beautiful day. The Cangshan mountain range provides a beautiful view and an excellent day’s outing, although you may spend more time taking photographs than actually walking.

If you’ve had enough of climbing mountains, try a change of pace and head for the beautiful Erhai Lake. You can hire a boat to take you out on the river, cycle around its edge, or simply sit on the bank and breathe in the tranquillity. Make sure you keep an eye out for the snow-capped mountains in the distance.

When you head back into the city, make sure you enjoy the fantastic social life, with bars and pubs open and thriving at night-time. You can also explore the history of the centuries-old parts of Dali, and lose yourself in its exceedingly charming atmosphere. Visit the local markets, buy as many trinkets to take home as you possibly can, and do your best to converse with the friendly locals.
