Visiting Beijing

Beijing is a state of obsession; the flavours and flows of an ever-expanding culture enrich short-stays, long trips or indefinite gap years.

The city is shrouded in a shadowy history, demanding reverence for its fallen revolutionaries at Tiananmen Square and whispered awe as the frescos of rulers and cosmological anecdotes unwinding in the eaves, leading the intrepid wanderer deeper into the Forbidden City.

Beijing is China’s crowning capital, playing host and home to over twenty million citizens and thousands of visitors. An epicentre of progress, the city limits represent the ingenuity and determination of the Chinese; China by halves or short trials will wet an unquenchable appetite before the boarding call comes.

Must-See Places

  • Beihai Park
  • Mao Zedong Mausoleum
  • Monument of People's Heroes
  • Temple of Heaven
  • Indulge in a Chinese Hot Pot cuisine
  • Prepare for the long walk along the Great Wall

Beijing tours direct bewildered travellers from point to point, immersing their reservations in a welcoming ambience, walking the stone lined paths of Beihai Park, pondering the towering mausoleum of Mao Zedong and the transient splendour of the summer palace.

Stand at the foot of the Monument of People’s Heroes and feel the lightning rod of politics, or transcend the world for a moment or two and revel in the grace of the Temple of Heaven. Succumb to the scents of a Chinese hot pot, enjoy a roadside dumplings, before taking the long walk along The Wall.  It is not for the faint of heart.
