Cities & Places in Rwanda
There's more to an adventure tour to Rwanda than gorillas in the mist. A close up encounter with some of the world's last remaining mountain gorillas amid the dense jungles on the slopes of the Virunga volcanoes in far Northwestern Rwanda is, however, the main drawcard for visitors to the Land of a Thousand Hills.
- Lake Kivu
- Parc National Nyungwe Forest
- Parc National Des Volcans
- Kigali Memorial Centre
A lush country of mountains and glorious scenery, Rwanda is a small, landlocked country. The shores of Lake Kivu, however, offer beautiful inland beaches and clear waters at Gisenyi. For primate watching, head for the rainforests of the Parc National Nyungwe Forest to see chimpanzees and troops of colobus monkeys and the Parc National Des Volcans to see mountain gorillas.
The capital, Kigali, is a safe and sophisticated city, though the Kigali Memorial Centre is a haunting reminder of the horrors of the genocide of 1994.
